In this issue of Airliner World we travel to the Maldives to profile the inter-island floatplane operations of the two local carriers, Trans Maldivian Airways and Maldivian Air Taxi.
We visit Italy’s primary gateway, Rome/Fiumicino and examine the airport’s plans for a major expansion which, it hopes, will make it one of the leading hubs in Southern Europe.
We look at low-cost carrier THAI Smile, the national carrier’s budget arm, to find out how it plans to expand its operations in Southeast Asia.
Maintaining the exotic theme, we profile Argentina’s military airline, LADE, and have a picture spread covering some of the visitors to CELAC 2013, the recent international government conference held in Santiago, Chile.
